Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that they are ready to reach an agreement with Ukraine. He clarified that the discussion is not just about a ceasefire, but about a peace treaty that will ensure the security of both sides.
elchi reports that in a statement to the state television channel “Rossiya”, Putin touched upon the remarks made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview, about “potentially being ready to accept territorial losses”.
Referring to the territories currently under Russian control, Putin said: “This is not their [Ukraine’s] land; this is the land of historical Russia. Moreover, the people living in these territories have voted first for state independence, and then to reunite with the Russian Federation. Therefore, I consider it inappropriate to talk about any territorial ‘losses’.”
Putin noted that this situation has led to an intensification of the campaign against Russia in various fields, especially in European countries. He stated that those circles are now constantly talking about the “threat” coming from Russia and are discussing preparations for a possible war with the country.
The Russian President called this a “form of political schizophrenia” and added: “But I hope this too shall pass.”
Emphasizing that it is unrealistic to defeat Russia on the battlefield or to inflict a “strategic defeat” on it, Putin expressed his belief that those who want Russia’s defeat will eventually “realize the realities of modern life and understand that it is better to live in friendship with Russia.”
