The Ministry of Culture wanted to announce the Book Award this year, but it did not happen due to certain financial issues not being finalized.
elchi reports that this was stated by Vasif Gurbanov, the head of the Department of Azerbaijani Language and Literature Policy of the Ministry of Culture, at a press conference regarding the XII Baku International Book Exhibition.
According to him, all legal procedures related to the award have been prepared.
“It has even been submitted to the relevant authorities and the issue is at the stage of agreement”.
Vasif Gurbanov said that one of the priorities of the Ministry of Culture, perhaps the first, is the book award and translation program.
“We accept this and are currently working in this direction”.
The head of the department added that the award will be announced for next year.
“We have even received enough books during the year. For example, we receive applications regarding books sent from various regions, whose authors we do not know. Authors state that they want to participate in the book award. This shows the relevance of the issue”.
