A press conference was held regarding the XII Baku International Book Exhibition.
elchi reports that Orkhan Fikretoğlu, advisor to the Minister of Culture, speaking at the press conference, stated that one of the main tasks facing the Ministry of Culture is the formation of a new literary environment, the industrialization of literature, and the improvement of the book industry.
“Fortunately, this difficult task has fallen to us, to our time. This is because the rights and obligations of the writer, publisher, and book owner have not been fully regulated in the literary process and the industrialization of literature to date. With the reforms carried out by the Ministry of Culture, legislative issues, legal concepts, and economic relations will also be organized and regulated on the basis of statehood as a result of the steps we have taken,” he said.
Vasif Gurbanizade, head of the Department of Azerbaijani Language and Literature Policy of the Ministry of Culture, who spoke later, talked about the importance of promoting books in the world.
He noted that the main force behind promoting books in the world is our self-awareness. We will never be able to introduce ourselves abroad without knowing ourselves.
One of the main tasks set by the “Azerbaijani Culture – 2040” Concept is to carry out activities to promote Azerbaijani literature abroad, as well as world literature in Azerbaijan.
One of the most important issues in this process is book exhibitions. As you know, an international book exhibition is organized annually by the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan. A large part of both foreign and local participants in the book industry are represented at this exhibition, and they actively participate in this process,” said Vasif Gurbanizade.
