A “Mirage 2000D” type fighter jet crashed in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department of France. As a result of the incident, one person died and another is missing.
elchi reports that the French Ministry of Defense announced that the “Mirage 2000D” fighter jet belonging to the French Air and Space Force crashed yesterday at 22:40 local time near the town of Rogeville in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department, located in the northeastern part of the country.
The statement noted that the aircraft belonged to a squadron based at the Nancy-Ochey airbase (Airbase No. 133) and the crash occurred when it was returning from a mission.
The information also states that there were two people on board the aircraft – the pilot and the weapons systems officer. The bodies of one person have been found as a result of search and rescue operations; work is currently underway to identify this person.
In addition, the ministry announced that both legal and safety investigations have been launched to determine the causes of the accident.
