“Post-Soviet developments have hindered the formation of the South Caucasus as a connecting hub. Nevertheless, Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey have managed to implement a number of energy and transport projects.”
elchi reports that this was stated by the Deputy Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Foreign Affairs Maka Bochorishvili, in her speech at the “Raisina Middle East” conference held in Abu Dhabi.
According to her, joint projects today play a solid foundation role for strengthening regional ties and further developing the Middle Corridor.
The minister noted that deepening cooperation, building trust-based partnerships, and developing future cooperation opportunities are necessary to fully realize the region’s potential.
“Our goal is to build partnerships based on trust and reliability, not only during crises but also during periods of stability,” added the head of the Foreign Ministry.
Maka Bochorishvili specifically emphasized the importance of the Middle Corridor in terms of developing regional cooperation and economic relations.
“Currently, the Middle Corridor concept is being actively discussed. However, this is not a new concept in itself. It reflects a historical reality that has always existed. The new geopolitical landscape adds further importance to this idea. Georgia plays an important role in this context,” added the head of the Foreign Ministry.
