The 9th Congress of Azerbaijani Journalists will be held on October 16.
elchi reports that the congress will begin in Baku, at the Rashid Behbudov State Song Theater, at 09:00.
During the congress, reports on the activities of the Azerbaijan Press Council over the past four years will be heard, and the new composition of the Council’s Board and its chairman will be elected.
In addition, it is planned to discuss proposals for amendments to the charter of the Press Council and the “Rules of Ethical Conduct for Journalists.”
First, the congress delegates will elect the new members of the Board. Then, the chairman of the Press Council will be determined from among the members of the Board.
The agenda of the event also includes the adoption of an appeal to the President of Azerbaijan.
It should be recalled that although the congress was initially planned to be held on October 15, the date was changed to one day later due to preparation work.
It should be noted that the Azerbaijan Press Council was established in 2003. The previous – 8th Congress of the organization was held on September 24, 2022. At that congress, Rashad Majid was elected chairman of the Press Council. He replaced Aflatun Amaşov in this position.
