Azerbaijan MFA Responds to France: End Baseless Accusations!

“We strongly condemn the fact that the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, Jean-Noel Barrot, once again targeted Azerbaijan with baseless claims during his speech at the “Global Forum on Building Trust and Strengthening Democracy” of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) on October 13.”

elchi reports that this was stated by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Aykhan Hajizada, while commenting on the claim made by the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, Jean-Noel Barrot, against Azerbaijan at the OECD event.

He stated that the French minister’s accusations against Azerbaijan show that the French side still cannot abandon the rhetoric of confrontation in its relations with Azerbaijan.

“Accusing Azerbaijan of interfering in the struggle for the rights of the peoples living in New Caledonia and other overseas territories of France is completely baseless. Associating parties with different positions on the processes taking place in France’s overseas territories with foreign interference is an attempt to overshadow the will and concerns of the population of those territories.

It would be more appropriate for French officials, who talk about democracy, human rights, and the rule of law, to first pay attention to the consistent application of these principles in France’s policy.

We call on the French side to put an end to baseless claims regarding Azerbaijan and to adhere to the principles of mutual respect, sovereign equality, and non-interference in internal affairs in international relations,” the MFA official emphasized.
