The Main State Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has issued a warning about level crossings being dangerous road sections.
According to the information provided to elchi by the Main State Traffic Police Department, the warning states:
“The accident with material damage at the unprotected crossing in the Salyan-Salmanli section of the railway still indicates unsatisfactory driver discipline in this area.
The collision occurred when the driver of a ‘Mercedes’ brand car was forced to stop on the railway tracks, resulting in a collision with a moving train. Although the driver managed to abandon the car at the last moment, significant damage was caused to the railway infrastructure and the vehicle.
Analysis shows that driver irresponsibility is the direct cause of similar accidents. In other words, even when drivers see an approaching train, they enter the crossing without paying attention to the traffic control devices, relying on the road infrastructure created to ensure easy passage over the rails, which ultimately makes accidents inevitable.
The Main State Traffic Police Department reminds once again: When approaching a railway crossing, drivers must observe road signs, traffic lights, lane markings, the position of the barrier, and the instructions of the crossing attendant, and proceed only after ensuring that there is no approaching train (locomotive, railcar).”.
