Iraq’s Najaf International Airport has temporarily suspended all flights to and from Iran, effective from 02:00 local time on Friday (03:00 Baku time), until further notice.
“Elchi” reports that this information was released by “Iran International”.
The airport administration stated that the decision was made in accordance with the instructions of Iraq’s competent state authorities. Relevant instructions have been sent to airlines and operators.
Prior to this, the Civil Aviation Organization of Iran had announced that Baghdad International Airport had stopped accepting flights from Iranian airlines.
The suspension of flights will also affect the routes of Iranian pilgrims, as the city of Najaf is an important transit point on the way to Iraq’s religious centers, including Karbala.
