German police have found a notebook belonging to a person suspected of organizing a series of acts of sabotage at electric power facilities. The document lists more than 160 potential targets for attacks.
“Elchi” reports that this was announced by the DPA agency, citing Herbert Reul, the Minister of the Interior of North Rhine-Westphalia.
A 48-year-old resident of the city of Gevelsberg was detained on Wednesday. Reul told the interior committee of the state parliament that police officers searched his van and found a notebook with notes. “We not only arrested the person suspected of carrying out the attacks, but we may have also prevented new attacks,” the agency quotes the minister as saying.
The minister clarified that the patrol service observed a trail near the settlement of Weisweiler, and the suspect had set up a tent nearby. He did not resist during the arrest.
Reul also commented on the motives of the criminal, who had previously sent letters to journalists criticizing the climate and energy policy of the FRG.
