France will not support Infantino for FIFA presidency

The French Football Federation (FFF) has decided not to support the current head of the organization, Gianni Infantino, in the upcoming FIFA presidential elections.

“Elchi” reports that the federation’s executive committee is expected to announce this decision on September 10.

Infantino has previously been criticized for announcing a plan to attract private investment for the World Cup. UEFA, CONCACAF, and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) have opposed this proposal.

Furthermore, it has been reported that UEFA is preparing to open a criminal case against Infantino regarding the initiative to sell a portion of the World Cup’s broadcasting and commercial rights to private investors.

It should be noted that Gianni Infantino has held the position of FIFA president since February 26, 2016. The next presidential election will be held in Morocco in April 2027.
