On September 5, at least 12 people died as a result of a mudslide in Jiangxi province, southeastern China.

The flood occurred early on the morning of September 5 in the city district of Jiangxi. Currently, one person is still considered missing. The mud and rock slide completely destroyed eight houses, and four more houses were slightly damaged.
Previously, it was reported that five people had died and seven were missing.
A search and rescue operation involving more than 170 people is ongoing in the disaster zone. Engineering work is also being carried out to reinforce roads and prevent secondary geological disasters.
Previously, the region had been affected by Typhoon Saudel, which caused continuous heavy rainfall.
