The Government of Nepal has declared September 7 as a national day of mourning to honor the memory of those who lost their lives in the flood on the Bote-Koshi River in the Rasuwa district.
“Elchi” reports that this decision was made during a Cabinet meeting.
“The Himalayan” newspaper reports that on the day of mourning, national flags will be flown at half-mast at all government institutions across Nepal, as well as at the country’s diplomatic missions and offices abroad.
The government has also decided to provide additional payments and cover food expenses for security personnel and civil servants involved in search and rescue operations due to the high-risk conditions in which they are working. The injured will receive free medical treatment, and financial compensation will be provided to the families of personnel who lost their lives during the operations.
