Phone ban in primary schools in Poland

A new rule regarding the use of mobile phones in primary schools and preschool institutions in Poland has come into effect nationwide.
“Elchi” reports that, according to Poland’s public broadcaster TVP World, with the start of the new academic year, primary school students across the country are not allowed to use phones or similar electronic devices during classes, breaks, and other school activities.
Children in preschool institutions are generally not allowed to bring such devices to school.
The rules include exceptions for the use of phones for educational purposes, contacting parents in emergencies, situations posing a direct threat to health or life, and for specific health or special needs.
Secondary schools are not included in the nationwide rules, but schools can regulate students’ mobile phone use through their own internal policies.
The rules are being implemented as part of a broader government campaign aimed at reducing children’s exposure to harmful online content.
On the other hand, the Polish government had previously announced that it was working on new legislation regarding the use of social media by children under 15.
