The 2028 World Judo Championships will be held in Lausanne, Switzerland.
“Elchi” reports that the International Judo Federation (IJF) has announced this information.
According to the report, the relevant agreement was signed between the IJF and the Swiss Judo Federation.
“The trust placed in Switzerland by the International Judo Federation is both an honor and a responsibility. After the Grand Slam tournaments in 2026 and 2027, the 2028 World Championships will allow us to develop judo in all its aspects… We want this event to leave an indelible mark on the history of Lausanne, the Canton of Vaud, and Swiss judo as a whole,” said Swiss Judo Federation President Sergei Aschwanden.
It should be noted that the 2026 World Judo Championships for seniors will be held in Baku from October 4 to 11. In 2027, the world championship will be hosted by Kazakhstan.
