A civil defense exercise on the topic of “Organization of management of civil defense bodies and forces during the elimination of the consequences of emergency situations” was held by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic at the Nakhchivan Oil Base Site No. 23 of SOCAR Petroleum CJSC, located in the territory of Nakhchivan city.

According to the information provided to APA by the Ministry, the main purpose of the exercise was to further improve the interaction of rescue forces involved in the area in case of fire and other emergency situations at a strategically important facility belonging to a high-combustion group, to strengthen the professional skills of personnel in extinguishing possible fires at such facilities, as well as to increase the knowledge of the facility’s staff regarding initial behavioral rules during fires and other incidents.

During the exercise, the state of organization of civil defense work and the readiness of forces at the Nakhchivan Oil Base Site No. 23 were checked, and management and mutual cooperation were organized. In accordance with the plan, “fires” that occurred in fuel tanks, fuel transport vehicles, the administrative building, and other structures were extinguished, and their consequences were eliminated. Rescue and other urgent work were carried out during collapses and destruction, and the facility’s conditionally injured employees were given first aid and evacuated from the “dangerous area”.

The Special Risky Rescue Service, the Nakhchivan City State Fire Protection Unit, the Emergency Medical Service, and the militarized civil defense forces of the Nakhchivan Oil Base Site No. 23 were involved in the exercise.
