Azerbaijan is further strengthening its position as an international transport and logistics hub.
As a result of the development of the East-West and North-South international transport corridors, as well as major infrastructure projects implemented in recent years, the volume of transit transportation in the first seven months of 2026 exceeded 9.1 million tons, rising to a record level for the last five years.
“Elchi” reports, citing the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, that this figure is 11.6 percent higher compared to the same period last year. In particular, the volume of transit cargo transportation increased by 16.5 percent in the East-West direction and by 14.3 percent in the North-South direction.
The results obtained demonstrate that the reforms implemented in the transport and logistics sector in recent years, digitalization, modernization of infrastructure, and expansion of international cooperation, as well as changes in global trade routes, have significantly increased Azerbaijan’s strategic position and competitiveness along the Middle Corridor and North-South corridors.
