Recently, an increase in violations of legislative requirements regarding the registration of foreigners and stateless persons at their place of stay in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan has been observed.
“Elchi” reports that the State Migration Service (SMS) has released information regarding this matter.
It was stated that, according to the requirements of the Migration Code of Azerbaijan, foreigners or stateless persons temporarily staying in the country for more than 15 days must be registered at their place of stay:
“In this regard, the SMS calls on foreigners or stateless persons who have been in Azerbaijan for more than 15 days, as well as the receiving party, to comply with the requirements of migration legislation.
In order to register a foreigner or a stateless person at their place of stay, the receiving party must submit the relevant application form and a copy of the foreigner’s or stateless person’s passport or other border-crossing document to the State Migration Service within 15 days from the date of the person’s arrival in the country.
No state fee is charged for the registration of foreigners and stateless persons at their place of stay. Failure to register at the place of stay within the required period is grounds for holding foreigners and stateless persons, as well as the receiving party, administratively liable.”
