The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that it had targeted three oil tankers attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, claiming they had ignored warnings.
elchi reports that, according to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency, a statement from the Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy stated that three oil tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz “continued to proceed along a route described as dangerous and illegal, despite warnings.”
The statement noted that the tankers were targeted and forced to stop, and warned that the US military’s “interventions and illegal instructions to ships” in the region would not go unpunished.
US base in Jordan also targeted
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps also announced that a US airbase in Jordan and the headquarters of the US Central Command (CENTCOM) were targeted with numerous ballistic missiles. According to reports in Iranian state media, the statement from the Revolutionary Guard Corps said the attack was carried out “in response to the aggressive actions of the US military.” The statement emphasized that “resistance will continue as long as threats against Iran and illegal and hostile actions against the interests of US forces continue,” and called on the US administration to end its threats and “illegal interference.”
The US military had previously announced that it had intercepted numerous ballistic missiles fired by Iran toward US forces in the Middle East and described the attempted attack as an “unprovoked attack attempt.”
Although the US Central Command (CENTCOM) did not disclose the name of the target Iran attempted to attack, Israeli media reported that Iran had fired ballistic missiles at a US base in Jordan.
