“The remarks made once again by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Maria Zakharova, regarding the former Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict are a distortion of reality.”
elchi reports that this was stated by MFA spokesperson Aykhan Hajizada while answering a question regarding the commentary of the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson on the Karabakh region and the CSTO.
“The Karabakh region has always been recognized by the international community, including the Russian Federation, as an integral part of Azerbaijan. For this reason, the attempt to continuously keep on the agenda the issue of applying CSTO mechanisms in relation to the sovereign territories of Azerbaijan, which were kept under Armenian occupation for 30 years, and linking this to whether the Karabakh region was recognized by Armenia, is not only contrary to the Russian side’s official position regarding Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region but is also completely baseless.
Azerbaijan has restored its territorial integrity and sovereignty in accordance with the requirements of international law, and with this, the former conflict has been resolved. In this context, the practice of interpreting topics related to Russian-Armenian relations in connection with Azerbaijan must be put to an end,” he stated.
