The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) has appealed to the public regarding fire safety in connection with the hot weather conditions expected over the weekend.
elchi reports, citing the MES, that the appeal states:
“According to the National Hydrometeorological Service, air temperatures are expected to rise across the country over the coming Saturday and Sunday, reaching up to 41 degrees in some areas.
In such weather conditions, minor carelessness or inattention can lead to fires in various locations, especially in open areas and forest tracts. Furthermore, the increased demand for household appliances (air conditioners, etc.) to cope with the heat increases the risk of electrical wiring overload, which can eventually lead to short circuits.
In this regard, the Ministry of Emergency Situations appeals to the public, urging them to strictly observe fire safety rules, taking into account that high temperatures increase fire risks.
Specifically, electrical networks in homes and workplaces should not be overloaded, the technical condition of electrical equipment and protective devices should be checked, identified defects should be immediately rectified, open flames should not be used and smoking should be avoided in agricultural fields, threshing floors, areas where haystacks are stored, and their vicinity, and the yards of private residential houses, farms, and production facilities should be periodically cleared of dry grass and waste. It should not be forgotten that throwing away unextinguished cigarette butts, matchsticks, glass objects, and materials soaked in flammable liquids creates a fire hazard.
Likewise, citizens living near forest areas and those heading out for recreation in nature should keep in mind that campfires in the forest should only be lit in specially designated areas. For this purpose, the fire safety condition of the area should be assessed; areas under trees, dry grass, bushes, or wood debris should not be chosen, and grass around the campfire should be cleared within a radius of 0.5-1 meters. A lit campfire should not be left unattended and must be completely extinguished when leaving the area. Lighting campfires in windy weather is prohibited.

MES has recommended calling 112 in case of danger.
