He emphasized that the US and Israel organized a two-stage military attack against Iran while political negotiations were ongoing. Pezeşkian said: “The destruction of our country’s energy infrastructure and the creation of artificial barriers to the transit of energy resources directly threaten global energy security and the world economy. The US is not only imposing sanctions against Iran but is also implementing a naval and air blockade; the Washington administration is pressuring other states to comply with this blockade.”
Highlighting that Iran possesses the world’s second-largest proven natural gas reserves, Pezeşkian stated that his country has succeeded in increasing production in the energy sector despite sanctions imposed for many years.
