In the second half of the day, a strong storm in Istanbul temporarily disrupted the operations of the city’s local airports.
“Elchi” reports this citing Turkish media.
It is noted that several aircraft approaching Istanbul International Airport, located on the European side of the metropolis, and Sabiha Gökçen Airport on the Asian side, were forced to circle in holding patterns until they received landing clearance.
Adverse weather conditions caused flooding in a number of Istanbul districts, mainly on the European side. Strong winds uprooted trees and tore off the roofs of residential buildings. The fallen trees damaged cars parked in many districts of the city.
