Azerbaijan’s People’s Artist and renowned film actor Tofiq Mirzayev passed away late last night at a hospital in the city of Beersheba, Israel.
This was reported to APA by Yegana Salman, director of the Azerbaijan Cultural Center in Israel.
She noted that the People’s Artist had been admitted to the hospital two months ago due to a stroke: “Although Tofiq Mirzayev’s health improved for a while, his condition deteriorated again in recent days. Even though he had expressed his wishes to be buried in Baku many times during his lifetime, it is planned for him to be buried today in a cemetery in the city of Arad, Israel.”
It should be recalled that Tofiq Mirzayev was born in 1932 in the Gadabay district. The artist, who was awarded the honorary title of Honored Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR in 1976, was a personal pensioner of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. On June 14, 2022, he was awarded the honorary title of People’s Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the “Shohrat” Order on the same date. Tofiq Mirzayev starred in films such as “Nasimi,” “The Life of Uzeyir,” “Find That Girl,” “His Troubled Love,” “The Last Night of Childhood,” and “Interrogation.”
