Armenian wrestlers will participate in the U-17 World Wrestling Championships to be held in Baku. They will join the U-17 World Championship, which will be organized in Baku from July 27 to August 2.
Answering questions on the subject, Sarkhan Musayev, press secretary of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation, stated that the participation of the Armenian team was confirmed at the last moment.
“In fact, their participation was confirmed at the last moment. There is a general system, and participating countries register through that system. Naturally, registration is open to all countries there, and no restrictions are placed on any state. As a full member of United World Wrestling, Armenia has also completed its registration,” he noted.
According to S. Musayev, like all countries participating in international competitions, the security of the Armenian delegation will also be ensured by the state:
“A security guarantee is given to every country, including Armenia. They will also exercise their rights to participate in the competition held in Azerbaijan.”
The federation official emphasized that this is not the first time Armenian athletes have come to Baku.
“They have participated in competitions held in Azerbaijan before. Armenian athletes took part in the World Senior Wrestling Championships held in Baku in 2007, as well as in the 1st European Games held in 2015. No incidents occurred during those competitions. This time, security measures will also be provided by the state at the highest level,” added Sarkhan Musayev.
It should be noted that the U-17 World Wrestling Championship will be held in Baku from July 27 to August 2. (modern.az)
