Russia attacked a cargo ship in the Black Sea

Ukrainian Prime Minister Sergiy Koretsky announced that five of the 18 crew members of a cargo ship sailing under the Guinea-Bissau flag were killed as a result of a Russian attack off the coast of Odessa, Ukraine.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Sergiy Koretsky stated that the ship, sailing under the flag of the West African country Guinea-Bissau, had left the port after loading a cargo of corn and had a crew of 18 people consisting of citizens of India, Syria, and Ukraine.
Koretsky reported that a major fire broke out on the ship during the attack and that the Ukrainian Navy launched rescue operations and successfully rescued eight sailors, two of whom were injured. Koretsky added that five sailors are still missing. The Prime Minister noted that rescue teams left the scene quickly due to the risk of a second attack, but firefighting efforts on the ship are ongoing.
