A person wanted internationally has been arrested in the Republic of Serbia and extradited to Azerbaijan.
elchi reports that the Ministry of Justice has provided information regarding this matter.
According to the information, the ministry continues to implement effective cooperation measures with the relevant authorities of foreign states to arrest and bring to our country individuals who have been placed on an international wanted list and are accused of committing crimes. Another person, who was placed on an international wanted list by the National Central Bureau of Interpol in the Republic of Azerbaijan and whose location was identified in the Republic of Serbia, was extradited to Azerbaijan by the Ministry on July 19.
Specifically, Mammadov Sabuhi Elburus oglu, a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan, was accused of fraud (Article 178.3.2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan) in 2023 for allegedly misappropriating another person’s property through abuse of trust and deception, causing significant damage in the amount of 90,869,964 manats by making false promises to the victim at various times. His location was identified in the Republic of Serbia, and he was arrested.
Following a request from the Prosecutor General’s Office and subsequent negotiations, an agreement was reached regarding the individual’s extradition to Azerbaijan. This once again confirms the international prestige of our state and the fact that the Republic of Serbia is a reliable partner for our country.
Mammadov Sabuhi Elburus oglu was brought to our country from Belgrade, Serbia, by responsible officers of the Main Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Justice and the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry, and was placed in the appropriate pre-trial detention center in accordance with the court’s arrest warrant.
The Ministry continues to take necessary measures in this area.
