Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow.
“Elchi” reports that the foreign ministers discussed the current state and development prospects of Azerbaijan-Russia relations, trade-economic and humanitarian cooperation, as well as the regional and international agenda.
The Russian Foreign Minister stated that they are moving towards fully realizing the potential of the Moscow Declaration on Allied Interaction, signed on February 22, 2022.
He said that thanks to the agreements reached at the highest level this year, as well as the work of governments and Foreign Ministries, issues related to the consequences of the AZAL passenger plane crash on December 25, 2024, have been resolved.
The Russian minister noted that the parties intend to discuss cooperation in the economic sphere. He recalled that the 24th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia was held in April.
The Russian Foreign Minister emphasized that the situation in the South Caucasus would be discussed. He also noted the growing interest in the “3+3” regional consultative platform.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, for his part, stated that such contacts create an important platform for a detailed discussion of the entire spectrum of Azerbaijan-Russia relations.
According to him, during the negotiations, the parties will examine in detail issues of trade and economic cooperation, one of the important elements of which is the regular meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission.
“Despite all the difficulties existing in the global economy, the general trend between our countries is positive,” Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized.
He noted that the parties will discuss bilateral cooperation indicators for 2025, as well as areas planned for the near future. The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister characterized the humanitarian sphere as a traditionally important element of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation.
Jeyhun Bayramov also pointed out the readiness of the two countries to discuss all regional and international issues of mutual interest, including interaction on international platforms.
