Latvia has handed over “SENTINEL” radars to Lithuania

The Baltic states are strengthening regional air defense: Lithuania has received “SENTINEL” radars from Latvia free of charge.

“Elchi” reports that the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense announced this on Thursday, July 16.

Lithuanian Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas noted that the main task of the “SENTINEL” radars is to ensure the execution of air target destruction operations via the “NASAMS” system by providing accurate information on target detection and tracking.

“These radars will help to respond more effectively to potential threats and protect the safety of our citizens. I thank Latvia and the USA for their continued cooperation in strengthening the region’s security,” Kaunas said.

Taking into account the proposal from the USA, Latvia decided to hand over the radars to Lithuania, as it uses other systems for its own air defense needs.
