“Elchi” reports, citing “Marca”, that the reason for this is an injury the 29-year-old midfielder sustained during the 2026 World Cup.
If the initial prognosis is confirmed, De Jong’s recovery will take up to four months. In this case, he will only be able to return to the pitch in November and will miss the start of the season.
Having already returned to the Catalan club’s camp, De Jong’s exact diagnosis has not yet been determined. He will undergo further medical examinations in the coming days.
Last season, the 29-year-old midfielder was sidelined for about two months due to a thigh muscle injury. Prior to that, he had missed a total of six months and 31 games after suffering two ankle injuries.
