On July 10, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Giles Thompson, President of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and the Committee of Experts on the Evaluation of Anti-Money Laundering Measures and the Financing of Terrorism (MONEYVAL), Director for Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency at the UK Treasury; Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States; Elzbieta Franko-Jaskiewicz, Chair of the Egmont Group, Deputy Director of the Financial Information Department of the Polish Ministry of Finance; Jerome Beaumont, Executive Secretary of the Egmont Group, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Department of the French Financial Intelligence Unit; Nicola Muccioli, President of MONEYVAL, Director of the Financial Intelligence Agency of San Marino; Daniel Telesclaf, Vice-Chair of the Egmont Group, Head of the German Financial Intelligence Unit; and Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Almuhanna, Vice-Chair of the Egmont Group, Head of the Financial Intelligence Unit of Saudi Arabia.
“Elchi” reports that during the conversation, it was emphasized that Azerbaijan is hosting the annual plenary session of the Egmont Group, and it was noted that the event was organized at a high level and productive discussions were held there.
During the meeting, it was stated that successful cooperation is being carried out between Azerbaijan and the organizations included in the delegation, and an exchange of views took place regarding the expansion of the partnership.
It was noted that consistent measures are being taken in Azerbaijan in the field of combating money laundering and the financing of terrorism, and important achievements have been made in this direction.
