The text of the bill on “crushing sanctions” against Russia has been agreed upon with the administration of US President Donald Trump.
“Elchi” reports that this was stated by the author of the initiative, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, at a briefing in Kyiv.
“I am pleased to report that about 30 minutes ago, we reached an agreement with the White House on a version of the sanctions bill against Russia that they will support. This means it will become law,” he said.
According to Graham, the senators were able to approve the version of the bill that the White House agreed to support. He added that he will now work with other authors of the initiative to promote the document’s adoption in Congress.
The bill authorizes the US President to impose tariffs and strict restrictions on countries that purchase Russian oil and gas, as well as on foreign companies and states that help evade existing sanctions.
It should be noted that the document provides for restrictions against Russian entrepreneurs and banks, a ban on American investments in the energy sector, as well as the imposition of 500% tariffs on Russian goods.
