The 29th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Russia Joint Commission on the distribution of water resources of the transboundary Samur River, established in accordance with the Agreement between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation “On cooperation in the field of efficient use and protection of water resources of the transboundary Samur River”, was held on July 9 in the Gusar district of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
elchi reports that the meeting was co-chaired by Zakir Guliyev, Chairman of the Board of the Regional Water Reclamation Service under the State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan (ADSEA), representing the Azerbaijani side, and Vadim Nikonorov, Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for Water Resources of the Russian Federation, representing the Russian side.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Regional Water Reclamation Service, relevant agencies of ADSEA, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, the State Service for Property Issues under the Ministry of Economy, as well as the State Border Service.
During the meeting, the distribution of the water resources of the transboundary Samur River between the two countries, the monitoring of water resources, the joint operation of the Samur Hydro-junction, as well as other current directions of mutual cooperation were discussed. At the end of the meeting, the measures to be taken were determined and a final protocol was signed.
