Meeting held between the Speakers of the Milli Majlis and the National Assembly of Zimbabwe

Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has met with Jacob Mudenda, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Zimbabwe, who is on an official visit to our country.

During the meeting, it was noted that political relations between Azerbaijan and Zimbabwe are at a good level, and it was emphasized that there are favorable opportunities for further expanding bilateral cooperation in various directions. It was recalled that the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe paid a state visit to our country, during which productive discussions were held between the heads of state.

In the conversation, Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova, mentioning the effective cooperation between our countries within the framework of the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement, and other international platforms, noted that during its chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement, Azerbaijan paid special attention to strengthening both bilateral and multilateral relations with member countries, as well as defending common interests at the international level, and this policy is being successfully continued today.

During the conversation, satisfaction was expressed with the development of relations between the legislative bodies. Emphasizing that inter-parliamentary cooperation plays an important role in the development of bilateral and multilateral relations, the importance of intensifying contacts between working groups on inter-parliamentary relations operating in legislative bodies, as well as further deepening cooperation between parliamentary committees, was highlighted.

At the meeting, it was noted that Azerbaijan attaches special importance to cooperation with Zimbabwe within the framework of international parliamentary organizations. It was stated that regular contacts are maintained within the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network (NAM PN), and there are favorable opportunities for further expanding relations on these platforms.

Jacob Mudenda expressed his satisfaction with his official visit to Azerbaijan and being in the Milli Majlis, and shared his positive impressions about the capital Baku, which has been developing rapidly in recent years.

Stating that Zimbabwe attaches importance to the development of relations with Azerbaijan and that political ties between our countries are at a high level, the Speaker of the Parliament noted that the promotion of multilateralism principles shared by both countries and the strengthening of cooperation based on international law are of great importance for strengthening global peace and stability. He also shared his thoughts on the importance of economic relations.

An exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest also took place during the meeting.
