On July 10, Baku will host the IBA Champions Night in boxing.
“Elchi” reports, citing the press service of the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation, that 6 bouts featuring the world’s strongest boxers will take place at the competition, which will be organized for the first time at the “Sea Breeze Resort”.
Azerbaijani athletes will be represented in 5 of these bouts. World champion in the 47.6 kg category, Subhan Mamedov, will face Richard Gard (Philippines). World championship medalists Sarkhan Aliyev (70 kg) and Saidjamshid Jafarov (72.6 kg) will face Nurtas Azhbenov (Kazakhstan) and Nikolai Veselov (Belarus), respectively.
European Games bronze medalist Tayfur Aliyev (60 kg) will test his strength against Khurshidbek Rasuljonov (Uzbekistan), and World Cup semifinalist Nabi Isgandarov (70 kg) will face Hikmat Garayev (Russia). Each boxer’s bout will consist of 6 rounds.
In the other bout, Cheerav Ashalaev (Russia, 76.2 kg) and Mikhail Dolgolevets (Belarus) will settle their score. This match will last 8 rounds.
Note that the IBA Champions Night will start at 19:00.
