The death toll from the devastating earthquakes that occurred in Venezuela on June 24 has reached 1,943.
elchi reports, citing “Reuters”, that this was stated by the President of the country’s National Assembly, Jorge Rodriguez.
“The number of deaths has reached 1,943, and 10,571 people have been injured,” he noted.
Previously, it was reported that 1,719 people had died and more than 5,000 were injured.
It should be recalled that a 7.1 magnitude earthquake occurred in northern Venezuela on the night of June 25. The US Geological Survey later reported two underground tremors with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5, occurring 40 seconds apart.
The country’s authorities have declared a state of emergency.
