Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Ghanim, Speaker of the Shura Council of the State of Qatar, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan to participate in the 20th session of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC).
This was reported to “Elchi” by the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis.
During the meeting, satisfaction was expressed regarding the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Qatar in various fields, and the role of mutual visits and meetings in further expanding these relations was emphasized.
During the conversation, the cooperation between Azerbaijan and Qatar within the framework of regional and international organizations was also highlighted. It was noted that the countries work together within the UN, the Non-Aligned Movement, and the OIC.
At the meeting, satisfaction was expressed with the high level of relations between our parliaments. It was emphasized that the Qatari parliament is closely involved in the work of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, which was established on the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev.
S. Gafarova stated that Azerbaijan has always respected the territorial integrity of all countries. She noted that Azerbaijan supports a peace agenda to maintain stability in the South Caucasus against the backdrop of events occurring around the region.
The Speaker of the Shura Council of the State of Qatar noted the importance of the 20th session of the PUIC Conference.
The guest stated that the joint commission on economic, trade, and technical cooperation between the governments of the two countries is operating successfully.
He also emphasized the active participation of Milli Majlis delegations in regional and international organizations and noted their intention to expand inter-parliamentary relations with Azerbaijan.
During the conversation, the guest stated that they highly appreciate the restoration and reconstruction work carried out by Azerbaijan in its liberated territories.
An exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest also took place at the meeting.
