Mass protests by “Gen Z” expected in Germany

Mass youth protests will be held in Germany on October 31. The rallies have been announced in about 30 cities across the country, including Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Frankfurt, and Munich.

elchi reports that the DPA agency has disseminated information about this.

The movement “Gen Z regelt” (“Gen Z solves it”), inspired by the recent youth protests in France, which were accompanied by mass riots, arson, and looting, is acting as the organizer.

Participants demand a reduction in the cost of living, an increase in allocations for education, social benefits, and healthcare. They also oppose cuts in social programs, the introduction of compulsory military service, and an increase in military spending.

Against the backdrop of events in France, the German authorities are wary of possible riots. According to the German Ministry of Internal Affairs, some left-radical and extremist groups have also joined the mobilization of participants. The Interior Minister of Brandenburg, Jan Redmann, believes that the date of the protests was not chosen by chance: on Halloween, it is easier for participants to hide their faces under masks.

According to media reports, shop windows in Berlin have already begun to be reinforced on the eve of the protests.

The organizers themselves declare that the rallies are peaceful in nature.
