An attempt to smuggle drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan via an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has been prevented.
This was reported to elchi by the State Border Service.
It was stated that as part of the measures to ensure reliable protection of the state border and combat smuggling and the illegal drug trade, border searches and operational measures conducted in recent days prevented the smuggling of a total of 41 kilograms and 168 grams of narcotic substances from Iran to Azerbaijan.
Specifically, 6 kilograms and 478 grams of marijuana were discovered in the service area of the “Goytapa” border detachment of the State Border Service’s Border Troops, and 24 kilograms and 90 grams of marijuana were discovered in the service area of the “Lankaran” border detachment.
In the service area of the “Horadiz” border detachment, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attempting to cross the state border to smuggle drugs was neutralized.
During the inspection of the scene, 10 kilograms and 600 grams of narcotic substances (10 kilograms and 550 grams of marijuana and 50 grams of opium) were discovered and seized.
Operational-investigative measures regarding these facts are ongoing.
