A new era of economic partnership is being formed between Great Britain and Azerbaijan. This cooperation will bring direct benefits to the citizens and business environments of both countries.
elchi reports that this was stated by Lord Jason Stockwood, the UK Minister of State for Investment, who is on an official visit to Baku.
Expressing his pleasure at visiting Baku for the first time and meeting with Azerbaijan’s key investors as well as government officials, the minister outlined the future priorities of bilateral relations:
“There are close and long-term relations between Great Britain and Azerbaijan. In addition to being Azerbaijan’s largest foreign investor, our country is determined to further expand trade relations. Within the framework of our strategic partnership, we will further increase bilateral trade and investment in priority areas such as clean energy, financial services, and infrastructure. These steps will directly contribute to the creation of new jobs and great economic opportunities in both countries.”
It should be noted that trade and economic growth are among the main pillars of the UK-Azerbaijan Strategic Partnership announced during the visit of Stephen Doughty, Minister of State for Europe, to Baku. Lord Stockwood’s current visit is also a continuation of a series of high-level relations between the two countries. Thus, this mission is a logical continuation of the visits of the UK’s Regional Trade Commissioner David Reed earlier this month and Trade Envoy Lord Alderdice to Baku.
This important diplomatic move took place on the eve of the 8th meeting of the UK-Azerbaijan Joint Intergovernmental Commission, where both governments will further advance discussions on economic cooperation. Currently, the parties are working together to form a new strategic partnership model that is modern, innovative, and focused on concrete results.
