The development dynamics of relations between Azerbaijan and Kenya and the importance of developing inter-parliamentary cooperation have been discussed.
Teleqraf reports that this was discussed during a meeting between the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Kenya, Sultan Hajiyev, and the Speaker of the National Assembly of Kenya, Moses Wetangula.
Ambassador Sultan Hajiyev recalled that an inter-parliamentary friendship group with Azerbaijan was established in the Kenyan Senate this year, and at the same time, a working group on inter-parliamentary relations with Kenya was established in the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan. He expressed hope that a working group with the Azerbaijani parliament would also start operating in the Kenyan National Assembly in the near future.
The Ambassador also emphasized the importance of continuing the current active cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries in the international arena within the framework of the 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union to be held in Arusha, Tanzania, this year.
Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula noted that there are favorable conditions for the further development of cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries and that he supports the processes in this regard. He emphasized the importance of the visit of Kenyan President William Samoei Ruto to Baku to participate in the 13th session of the UN World Urban Forum.
The Speaker highly appreciated the activities of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, established at the initiative of Azerbaijan, as well as the initiatives and contributions of the Milli Majlis in many other international organizations.
