The Shusha Declaration is a highly significant document for Azerbaijan, Turkey, and the region as a whole, as well as for the Turkic world. Based on the principles of development, progress, peace, and security, this document is a historic roadmap that makes a significant contribution to strengthening unity and solidarity in the Turkic world and ensuring stability and sustainable development in the region. This unique agreement further strengthens the Azerbaijan-Turkey alliance and creates a solid foundation for deepening cooperation, mutual trust, and strategic partnership in the region. Signed on June 15, 2021, in Shusha by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Shusha Declaration marked the beginning of a new phase in Azerbaijan-Turkey relations. This important event, which coincided with the National Salvation Day, a landmark date for our people, officially confirmed that the existing strategic partnership between the two brotherly states had been elevated to the level of an alliance.
These views were expressed by Rashad Mahmudov, a member of the New Azerbaijan Party Board and a deputy of the Milli Majlis.
The deputy stated that, first of all, it should be noted that the Shusha Declaration covers all areas of cooperation between our countries. The document envisages the strengthening of political ties, the continuation of mutual support in international organizations, the development of economic and trade relations, the deepening of cooperation on energy and transport projects, as well as the strengthening of joint activities in the field of defense and security.
Furthermore, the Declaration is an important political document that gives impetus to the emergence of new cooperation opportunities in the region. The legal and political basis it creates serves to strengthen regional stability and accelerate integration processes. At the same time, the document opens up new opportunities for economic development, increases investment attractiveness, and provides additional momentum to the process of restoration and development of the Karabakh region.
The significance of the Shusha Declaration is not limited to the relations between the two countries. This document is an important contribution to further strengthening Azerbaijan’s international position, increasing its role in regional processes, and gaining additional political opportunities in the direction of protecting its national interests. In this regard, the Shusha Declaration is a historic document that defines the strategic development directions of today and the future. The signing of a brotherhood document in Shusha, the cultural capital of the Turkic world, which lived under occupation for many years and whose liberation was watched by the whole world with amazement, carried special historical and moral significance. Because Shusha is a city of heroism, pride, and victory. The signing of the aforementioned Declaration in Shusha became an expression of the power of Azerbaijan-Turkey brotherhood, and the unity, solidarity, and common future will of the Turkic world.
In conclusion, the deputy noted that in the modern world, it is rare to find states as close to each other as Azerbaijan and Turkey, based on mutual trust and brotherhood. Like children of one family, in the most painful, difficult, and complex moments, both countries, remaining loyal to the philosophy of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, “One nation, two states,” have always displayed a common position, supported each other, and demonstrated brotherly solidarity. The Shusha Declaration, signed on the Great Salvation Day, became the political and legal confirmation of the closeness, unity, power, and unbreakable brotherhood between Azerbaijan and Turkey. This historic document, which elevated the relations of the two brotherly states to the peak of alliance, sent a message of solidarity, mutual trust, and joint will to the modern world, which is full of threats and conflicts.
