Natural minerals such as quartz, amethyst, and agate are found in the Gobustan, Nakhchivan, and Lesser Caucasus regions of Azerbaijan.
elchi reports, citing milli.az, that these minerals were formed over millions of years as a result of volcanic and metamorphic processes and constitute a part of the country’s underground natural resources.
In some cases, special and rare forms of these stones – especially transparent crystals, colored and layered structures – can carry collection value and fetch a certain price when put up for sale.
However, experts state that the vast majority of these minerals are considered ordinary geological samples, and it is very rare for them to be sold at a high price on the market.
The real value of the stones depends on their quality, rarity, and professional appraisal.
At the same time, it is noted that the extraction and commercial sale of natural minerals are regulated and carried out under control in accordance with the legislation.
In general, the market price of these minerals varies according to quality and characteristics: ordinary quartz stones can be sold for approximately 1-50 AZN, agate for 5-100 AZN, and amethyst starting from 10 AZN up to 1000 AZN and higher. However, these prices are mainly valid for collection and high-quality specimens, while the majority of found stones have a low market value.
