Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has met with a delegation led by Prosecutor General of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Huy Tien, who is on a visit to our country.
“Elchi” reports that the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis provided information about this.
The Speaker of the Milli Majlis expressed her confidence that this visit would contribute to the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Vietnam.
During the conversation, it was noted that the foundation of friendly relations between the two countries was laid in the last century by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and the great son of the Vietnamese people, Ho Chi Minh. It was emphasized that these relations have developed dynamically since Azerbaijan restored its independence.
At the meeting, the exceptional role of high-level reciprocal visits in strengthening bilateral relations was noted, and it was brought to attention that the visits of the President of Azerbaijan to Vietnam and the President of Vietnam to Azerbaijan determine the dynamics of our relations.
It was stated that our countries cooperate effectively within the framework of international organizations. In this regard, the Speaker of the Milli Majlis spoke about the importance of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network and invited Vietnam to participate actively in this platform.
The Speaker informed the guest about the cooperation of the Milli Majlis with the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the context of the activities of the parliament in improving the country’s legislative system, as well as the structure of the modern parliament in Azerbaijan, its international activities, and the representation of parties in the parliament. It was noted that the effective cooperation between the ruling parties of the two countries, the New Azerbaijan Party and the Communist Party of Vietnam, makes an important contribution to the development of bilateral relations.
During the conversation, the Speaker of the Milli Majlis also shared her views on cooperation with the Vietnamese parliament, the activities of working groups on inter-parliamentary relations, and the prospects for expanding ties between the parliaments.
Expressing his gratitude for the meeting, Prosecutor General of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Huy Tien conveyed the greetings of the Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam and shared his impressions of his visit to our country. He noted with satisfaction that Azerbaijan hosts a number of important international events, emphasizing that in this regard, COP29 was successfully held in our country.
Touching upon the development of relations between the prosecutor’s offices of the two countries, the guest spoke about the importance of the documents signed between the institution he leads and the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan, as well as the prospects for cooperation. He noted that the cooperation program signed today between the Prosecutor General’s Offices of Vietnam and Azerbaijan serves to further strengthen measures to combat crime.
An exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest also took place at the meeting.
