Putin: Kyiv is not ready to resolve the crisis due to the situation in its domestic politics

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the Kyiv administration is not ready to resolve the crisis due to the situation in its domestic politics, adding: “We want to sign a peace treaty with a legitimate government in Ukraine.”
elchi reports that President Putin met with the heads of the world’s leading news agencies during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). In response to the question, “Do you want to control the entire Donbas region, or are you ready to reach an agreement?” Putin said that these issues are not contradictory.
Putin stated that the Russian army is advancing on all fronts in Ukraine, saying: “Recently, control has been established over approximately 2,440 square kilometers of territory. Russian forces are advancing every day. Russia has taken control of the entire Luhansk People’s Republic, 85 percent of the Donetsk People’s Republic, and 80 percent of the Zaporizhzhia region. This process is ongoing.”
Pointing to the heavy losses Ukraine has suffered in the conflict, Putin said, “The number of soldiers in the Ukrainian Armed Forces has decreased by 100,000 recently. Monthly losses are approximately 40,000. At the beginning of this year, the number of deserters from the army reached approximately 60,000. People are being forcibly conscripted; they lack motivation. No one wants to fight.” Vladimir Putin expressed his readiness to resolve the Ukrainian crisis peacefully and said: “We are ready and willing to reach a peaceful agreement with Ukraine based on the principles we agreed upon with Trump in Anchorage. Russia accepts the agreements reached in Anchorage. The Ukrainian side must also accept them. This will end the conflict. Ukraine needs to be convinced of this.” Putin also stated that the Ukrainian government does not want to stop the conflict in order to remain in power, saying: “Kyiv is not ready to resolve the crisis due to the situation in its domestic politics. If peace is achieved there, the internal political struggle in Kyiv will fundamentally worsen the power struggle and the economic situation.” Putin stated that it is not necessary to stop military operations for negotiations, adding that “Instead of military operations, it is better to stop the war completely in accordance with the agreements reached in Anchorage.” Regarding the legitimacy of the Ukrainian government, Putin said: “We want to sign a peace treaty with a legitimate government in Ukraine. If we reach the point of signing documents, we will find the people to sign them. They just need to want it.” The Russian president noted that his country has not used the “Oreshnik” medium-range hypersonic ballistic missile on a full scale in its systematic attacks on military industrial facilities in Ukraine.
