The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line is a joint strategic project of Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey that plays an important role in strengthening ties between Europe and Asia.
elchi reports that this was stated in a report by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
It was noted that the new railway route creates additional throughput capacity in the region, makes a significant contribution to the diversification of cargo transportation, and strengthens the region’s transport accessibility.
“The volume of cargo transportation via BTK is increasing year by year. After the line is fully operational, the project’s throughput capacity will increase to 5 million tons, which will allow the region to process additional cargo and significantly strengthen transport capabilities,” the statement says.
