The European Junior Judo Cup has kicked off in Graz, Austria.
“Elchi” reports that the Azerbaijani national team won one gold medal on the first day of the competition.
Competing in the 66 kg weight category, Mahammad Musayev defeated all his opponents to become the champion. On his way to the final, our judoka eliminated representatives from Germany, Croatia, Belgium, and Hungary.
In the decisive match, Mahammad defeated Serbian athlete Marko Jorgic by ippon and climbed to the highest step of the podium.
With one gold medal to its name, our national team is ranked first among men in the medal standings and 5th in the overall count.
