Trump called on the US, China, and Russia to unite against the ICC

During a meeting held in Beijing last week, US President Donald Trump stated that the US, China, and Russia have common interests in opposing the activities of the International Criminal Court (ICC) and that they should unite against this organization.

elchi reports that the “Financial Times” (FT) newspaper writes about this, citing its sources.

According to FT sources, Trump noted that all three countries have common interests in resisting the ICC’s activities and should act in a coordinated manner against this structure. The Chinese side’s reaction to this proposal has not been disclosed.

Russia and China are not members of the ICC, therefore they are not subject to its jurisdiction and do not recognize its decisions. However, the court has previously issued arrest warrants for a number of high-ranking officials, including Vladimir Putin and other representatives of the Russian leadership, as well as Israeli politicians against the backdrop of the conflict in Gaza.

In response to these decisions by the ICC, the US administration imposed sanctions against the court, accusing the organization of illegally persecuting Americans and their closest allies.
