Germany has become a financing partner of the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) Nature Solutions Hub by providing 5.5 million euros in grant co-financing.
“Elchi” reports with reference to “Report” that this was announced during the 59th Annual Meeting of the ADB Board of Governors.
It was stated that the allocated funds will be directed towards activating efforts for the protection, effective management, and restoration of biodiversity and ecosystems across the Asia-Pacific region.
“Nature is central to ensuring inclusive economic growth, resilience, and long-term development in Asia and the Pacific. Germany’s participation strengthens a growing coalition of partners seeking to increase the volume of investments in nature through coordinated action and innovative financing mechanisms. Through joint efforts, we are moving from plans to their practical implementation,” said ADB President Masatsugu Asakawa.
Funds from Germany are provided through the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented with the support of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). This announcement coincided with the signing of an implementation agreement that formalizes the partnership between ADB and GIZ. The Nature Solutions Hub was established in 2023 and aims to mobilize at least 5 billion US dollars in investment for nature conservation by 2030.
