President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva and family members attended the opening of Islam Safarli Street, which covers the Sabail and Yasamal districts of Baku, on May 1 following its reconstruction.
“Elchi” reports that the head of the Baku City Executive Power, Eldar Azizov, informed the head of state and the First Lady about the work carried out.
It was noted that the area starting from Azerbaijan Avenue, including a part of Nigar Rafibeyli Street, along Islam Safarli Street to Mirzaagha Aliyev Street, has been completely landscaped. A passage has been provided from this area for the comfortable movement of pedestrians to the Central Park.
Landscaping work was carried out on 8 streets intersecting with Islam Safarli Street, as well as in the section up to Tabriz Khalilbayli and Mirza Ibrahimov streets. The total length of the landscaped streets is 1350 meters. Water and sewage lines on these streets have been completely renewed, and gas lines have been replaced with an underground system. In addition, reconstruction and restoration work was carried out on buildings of various purposes located on the streets, necessary conditions were created for the recreation of residents and guests of our city, benches were installed, and extensive landscaping work was carried out.
The implementation of the project provides pedestrians with direct access from Fountain Square to the Winter Park. There are also architectural monuments of local importance built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries here. This further increases the attractiveness of the area for both local residents and guests.
Replacing roads with pedestrian paths will have a positive impact on the activities of shops, cafes, and restaurants in the area and will create new opportunities for small businesses.
It should be noted that today our capital has become one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Consistent measures have been taken so far to modernize Baku’s social infrastructure and ensure the comfort of residents and guests visiting the city, and these projects are currently continuing.
